I've mostly been "keto by default" for the last few years but without aiming to be consistent enough to actually be in ketosis. If I wanted to eat some doughy pizza, I did.

I use the hardcore keto phases to burn off whenever I've regressed too far.

One challenge I found at my keto peak fitness was that I just didn't have the fuel reserves for 2-3 hrs of intense activity. I'd start out feeling amazing but would get drained fast.

So I'm happy to hit the keto accelerator pedal when I need it, but ideally I'd find a slightly less keto balance (or maybe some on/off schedule) that I can maintain longer term.

I have found that people on the keto diet that explain that issue, they aren’t getting enough fat. They have too high of a protein to fat ratio. I’d encourage you to give adding even more fat to the diet if you’re feeling that way.

Interesting. I imagine also getting the timing right for fuel intake prior to activity.

Definitely beyond my expertise on that issue.
