How to reduce battery consumption on amethyst? It's using too much battery on my friends mobile and they all uninstalled it due to that

On my phone it consumes a lot of battery power too. Of all the open source apps I tested, Amethyst was the best I found.

Please write a bounty for this. I think lots of people would be interested in working with performance improvements if we had the right incentive.

1. Most people are posting large files in the network. Every app must compress the image/video before rendering. That takes some battery.

2. Most people use lots of relays. Every connection is expensive. The bigger the decentralization, the worse it gets.

My friends were using the default relays. Is it possible to reduce the amount of default relays? Which info should I look to decide which relays to remove?

Damus has a somewhat undefined cellular mode feature request. I dont presume to know the implementation details.

The intended outcome is to save data (and potentially battery).

Maybe this means reducing number of relays, update frequency, turning off images etc..

In my messenger apps I always disable images. It would be nice to have this in amethyst.

Another question: os the app reloading old messages from the relays, or does it store it and just ask for the deltas?

My phone is old and my battery is almost dead. But I don't find amethyst battery consumption significant..🤔

Did you do any optimization for that, or sure you using the default servers?
