I was on the LNBits telegram chat today asking a question (I don’t telegram much so am unfamiliar). Scammer impersonating admin DM’d me and started ‘helping’ me. My first question to her was ‘how do I know you’re the admin’? But she just posts pictures of her account and the group list of admins. I checked her @ name vs. the one in the group and it ‘checked out’ but later found out those don’t mean anything.

LONG story short: thank you to Sparrow wallet telegram group who pinned excellent guides against scammers. And this lady was breaking a lot of them. Finally went back to the main chat and asked if it was a scam and got a resounding YES. Luckily she didn’t get anything important: just public node id and nostr npub (which I was like WHAT!? does my npub have to do with getting LNBits to work!? But I thought well ‘what do I know’)

I BELIEVE IN KARMA. and what these scammers do will come around to them. And I can forgive, because once upon a time I was a scammer too. (Not really but you know, in terms of the unethical things I’m not proud of in my own past)
