Question: How can we encourage non-techy people and minority groups to join Nostr and Damus? #POC #Queer #Minorities #Pride🏳️‍🌈 #GenX #Boomers #NostrForAll #[7] #[8] #[9] #[10] #[11] #[12] #[13] #[14] #[15]

I’m trying to writing as many as any of article how much #Nostr is fun to use 🤙💜👏

Ex) How to use #Damus for very beginner 😊

https://stacksats.jp/damus-nostr/

Can’t wait to read it! 👀

Right?! I’m enjoying it a lot too but I’m not finding much content beyond Bitcoinerz. (No hate.) I’ve got coin too but let’s foster an environment that welcome ALL!

Ah 😳 Thank you very much❗️💜⚡️ #[10]

Spread some money to attracts KoL?

This is a devil centralised social app way I know.

Ok. Tell me more. Where could we spread this money? I have sats in my Wallet of Satoshi I’ve been given/earned. I am happy to pay it forward but where and why?

In a more organised way, like devil Tik Tok, they directly give money to KOL at the beginning. I am also thinking is it possible to do it in nostr. Here is more decentralised. I starts from small zaps to my friends and their biggest concern is, all my other friends are not here

I think the path of recruiting, informing or purple pilling influencers in each path is smart.

They have their own audiences they can bring with them.

Love “purple pilling” 😍

We don’t need influencers, I don't think we are ready yet to channel all the mass of users they would bring. I think it's better to take it step by step, without haste and building, they will come 🙂

People are the lifeblood of social networks (even though nostr is not limited to that). You need new blood for growth. Recruiting influencers is a known and proven method to bring new people to a platform. There’s nothing wrong with actively letting people know about nostr. I don’t think things would just stop working. We did ok with the China wave and that was pretty big. An influencer here and there shouldn’t break the experience.

Well, I also refer to the dynamics that they can bring, I mean. A standard influencer will seek to convert us into what they are used to seeing (ego, dopamine, envy, etc). Obviously I am generalizing, yesterday there was a small gap between all of us (in my point of view), I think we are just now off guard, I would wait to have more consensus on what nostr means 🙂

Not sure what you mean by this.

Imagine the typical tiktok celebrity in the middle of all of us, don't you see it out of place yet? I mean, the base needs to be broadened more (by the base) so that these people can land, they will come with some inherited vices, if they come now they can corrupt what we have built.

Nah that’s precisely what we need. All we have is bitcoin conversations - people regurgitating the same boring bitcoin lines. It’s predictable, sad and cultish.

We need people who know nothing of bitcoin or could care less about zaps.

I say bring them all!

💯

They are points of view, nice conversation 🙂

i agree we need influencers, imagine joe rogan or maybe mkbhd start posting here all of his listeners/viewers would be at least be interested what is this nostr thing

My question concerning Joe Rohan would why would he promote this? I’m not going to say he’s only interested in monetizing but what would be his benefit to promoting this? How can we make this appealing to large brands like his?

he could be promoting his podcast/products to possible new listeners on nostr, probably make something from zaps

Agree 💯

The more the merrier

Agreed!

Great point Karnage. We need more bitcoin talk.

Y’all like Bitcoin?

It’s the hardest fucking money.

also, influencers represent a broad category from leaders in their fields to anything anyone follows for any reason - a cook show host, a writer, a humanitarian, an activist, a toy tester, gamers, fashion influencers, politicians - the field is wide open

Stickers, gifs, stable and reliable clients and relays…

Won‘t happen in our lifetime 🫥

Anything one enters into thinking it won’t happen, won’t happen.

I have posted about nostr on Twitter a few times, and some people have started after seeing the post, so perhaps it would be good to convey the fun of nostr to people who are looking for alt-Ttwitter🤔

Also, it seems that many Japanese people give up when they start nostr because they can't find other Japanese people, so when I find new users, I try to teach them how to find Japanese users.

It might be a good idea to show the user's language posts.

Love this! I haven’t been able to get the translation bit to work without giving my CC# so I can’t understand the Japanese without copying and pasting into Google. A smoother/automatic incorporation of translations would be great! I’d love the opportunity to easily converse with non-English speakers

There are still several problems for non-technical people to use.

1. people just starting out will see only spam submissions at first and give up because they can't find someone who leaves the same language.

2. if the relay connection is not stable, the posts and settings will not be reflected.

3. the same unstable relay can cause follow information to disappear as well.

To solve the first problem, you can set the relay to display only speakers of the same language by default, or you can filter the global display language by the language used by the user by default.

For 2, for example, if there are 7 relay settings and a post is made when 2 relays are connected, it is difficult for the post to be reflected, so the post should be resent when the remaining 5 relay connections are restored. If the application is put in the background immediately after posting, it is also difficult for the post to be reflected, so it is necessary to post to the remaining relays when the application is reconnected.

For the third relay, if the information retrieved from the relay is out of date, it is likely that the follow information will be overwritten with less information when following someone, so I think there should be a backup function in the app so that it can be restored.

I think it is important to make users as unaware of the relay's connection status as possible.

As for following official Damus users by default and getting the legendary April Fool's video, I like it.

Hahaha. We want to make more video. We’ve been brainstorming. Suggestions/ideas are welcome. Anyone can DM me!

For example, people may mistake Damus for a social networking service, or fail to understand that Nostr is a protocol. For people who have used existing SNS as a service, it is difficult to understand what Nostr and the tools surrounding it are classified as. The values and introduction of Zap and Satoshi are also difficult for the late majority to take on board.

Nostr would need a friendly and simple portal site in different languages.

In addition, a web client with high stability in terms of display and communication that can be used comfortably is also needed, although a client for smartphones is being developed.

💯 agree! The network/protocol whatever you want to classify it as is still in its infancy. It will take time but we have a chance to influence its growth. I see enormous potential in Nostr and though I can’t say I understand how it works I see what it can become and am EXCITED for it!

Indispensable

I think that SOCIAL MEDIA has expanded with the spread of smart phones.

It is known that when using nostr on a smart phone, the traffic is very high.

One solution is to reduce the number of connection relays and only connect to filter.nostr.wine for example.

But I still think this is not enough.

I think that Damus and Amethyst for example need a save mode with reduced display of images, videos, etc.

It’s really the same path that lost icq and msn messenger their users.

As soon as current competitors like twitter etc screw up, a horde of users will switch to nostr.

After a certain number of screw ups, tipping point is reached.

We need closed groups, separations. Interest’s-based communities.

Gays into a Nostr gay group.

Bitcoiners into a Nostr bitcoiner group.

Non-Bitcoiners into a Nostr non-bitcoiner group. Transgender into a Nostr transgender group. Linux user into a Nostr Linux group. Gun lovers into a Nostr gun group. Porn lovers into a Nostr porn group. Pokemon love into a Nostr Pokemon group. And so on.

Online people are not looking for people with similar language but for like-minded people.

Everyone loves everyone = FAIL

Since 1996 online. That has never worked.

You can’t mix Linux, Mac OS, Microsoft Windows users. Endless conflicts inevitable.

Parfait et réellement merci à vous deux🧡

Merci beaucoup.

I Groups could be good to provide “Safe Places” for like minded people to connect but also the broader community could allow others to have discussions (or arguments depending on people’s proclivities).

Also though, segregation has had some… issues in hunanity’s past too. So although groups is a good idea all should be welcome if we want to break away from the biased enforcing algorithms.

Isn't what you describe basically Mastodon?

Depending on the OS you use, not everyone can use Damus yet.
