would it be any less annoying if you got btc back on return?

I did notice when I was in Berlin that homeless people asked you for your empties on public transport, which is curious. Not sure I know how I feel about it cos I was only visiting really and didn't really dwell on it beyond a curiosity

If I could get Bitcoin in return I might actually return my cans! The redemption process is a pain for the grocery stores and people. That's the big issue.

Is it a new thing where you are? Wonder if that is something which will improve. Also I imagine it makes a big difference on whether you can pop down in walking distance in say an urban location. Rather than a trek and car ride with rattling can and bottles, if you're in a more rural area /not close to a store.

I have no idea how I'll feel if/when it gets introduced here.

It's been around for decades actually but covid made people and stores not want to participate as much. You save a ton of cans and bottles and go through the process of taking them back to a store where you have to deposit one at a time and your end up with 10-20 bucks for your time and effort. Not really worth it in my opinion.
