The etymology of the word government says a lot.

Govern = to rule

Ment = the mind

It's all a psychological game and when you have mastered your own mind, why would you let anyone else Govern it?

There is no one who can rule your own mind better than you!

Looking a bit deeper, the suffix can also mean also refer to mentum. Yet at the same time to rule over others is a psychological thing. To say that this governing body knows what is best for you and society, more than you do for yourself.

This would still make the etymology of the word government mean: instrument of rule/ direction.

Which still begs the question, why do I need someone to rule over me? Are they more wise than I am? I highly doubt that they have discovered noble wisdom to the degree that I have for myself.
