I grew up on well done, but slowly moved toward medium rare. It's so much better. Occasionally you can have a good one that's cooked through, but it's much more likely to be good if it's pink.

I'm not arguing in favour of burning meat to a crisp, the post I originally responded to was about *any cooking*.

Liking well done steak has to be a thing where you grew up with it, it’s 100% objectively worse.
