Bluesky’s ATprotocol ecosystem gets its first micro investment fund. It’s much smaller than the resources and investment we’ve got going in to Nostr but they’re doing better about getting press coverage.

Why is that tho? I know it's much much bigger now, but it was sort of likely his before anyway. Does (did) Bluesky pay for press? (I don't think it needs to now cos there is mass interest, but before I mean). Is it just that it's easier to write about as it's a company, much easier to explain and has techworld 'players' for journalists to write a story around?

Tech press had a sort of angle with Jack Dorsey and Nostr, but it's a bit more complicated and fiddly (boring?) as a story? And there's is obviously nostr being tiny.

Does tech press even know we have the mod of (the precursor of Garry's Mod) working on a Nostr client lol?;)

If NOSTR gets any amount of attention, the amount of spam will become so unmanageable that you won't be able to scale it without a centralized relay (or a few of you're lucky) and it'll just be a less secure version of Blue Sky (because keypairs are so vulnerable.)

Or it could fragment (which the Damus dev admitted was true last time I brought this up, although he inexplicably thought everyone being stuck in fragmented irrelevant islands was a good thing because NOSTR's devs are drunk on their faux-ingenuity.)

Silly tricks like running games doesn't matter. People have made old Gameboy games run on Mastodon. Browsers are operating systems and so is every website. We're in Hell, anything can run a video game.

I think right now Bluesky is “hot” so it’s easier to talk to journalists to cover Bluesky related things. Nostr has been pigeonholed in to being seen as a “bitcoin thing” which is definitely also having a moment, a lot of the bitcoin coverage focuses on the fiat btc exchange rate.

But it’s also that Bluesky has a PR team talking to journalists and placing stories. Whereas we had a whole main stage panel at Nostriga about why we should not do PR, marketing, or generally not having a coordinated or funded promotion project for Nostr. The world of PR and journalism is really weird and different from the way open source and community projects work online. It’s not good or bad, just very different.

A veces siento que hay demasiada resistencia a integrar en el movimiento de Nostr cualquier herramienta ajena al modo de pensar de una mayoría aquí. El explorar lo que otros hacen para escalar y adaptarlo no lo considero una debilidad sino más bien una manera inteligente de superar obstáculos.
