I think Sparrow is by the best wallet I have ever used. Might seem a bit daunting at first as it doesn't have a glossy GUI and there are lots of options to play with but I found after just exploring the whole thing I ended understanding how Bitcoin works probably about 1000x better than a simple easy to use glossy looking thing.

I've never tried Sparrow. Is it possible to recover it on any other self-custodial wallets?
Its does pretty much everything. You can choose the number of words when you set one up on there etc if you think that might be a combability issue with another wallet you might have.
I should try it soon. Is it still under development?
