While simultaneously having spent so much time bitching about the illiteracy growth online..

I'm right there with you - for me it's something the tradeoff between degree of specificity, intended audience, and time to issue reply -- sometimes things are going too fast to trip on a typo here or there or precisely proper punctuation etc....depends alot on that context and intention

Exactly this.

And for some there is language barriers which I fully understand.

In my case I am proficient in only one language, therefore I find the misspellings on my part more egregious.

Ah well.
