You could aso do what you are suggesting with monero with some other shitcoin that doesnt have a limitless supply cap lol
Too hard to send large amounts via lightning. Only good for very small amounts (right now), in my experience

I guess that depends on your definition of “small amounts.” Lightning can handle hundreds and thousands of dollars at a time.
