Earlier in #nostr some people were actually considering buying a #purism #librem smartphone for freedom purposes.

If you're thinking about the same thing, I urge you to reconsider. At these point you're better off rooting your own #android device and installing #lineageos or #grapheneos or #calyxos yourself.

And you will actually learn something!

I saw the Rossman video too. And, I spent a not-so-unsignificant amount of time in their Matrix servers a few years ago.

It was... uh... not so good. Like, the conversation and stuff was nice, but it felt a lot like those with a dev-board felt "higher up" than you whilst the "footfolk" were waiting. And then, when I did see updates to the OS, they felt minor.

PureOS is probably my favorite of their products, simply because you don't depend on them shipping physical goods or taking your money. Their hardware... no, no thanks. Underpowered and underdelivered. It looks nice, I'll give them that. Certainly would rather have a Purism laptop than a Thinkpad, if it were just for the looks. xD

But no, at least after the Louis video, I am staying far away from them. And I thought PlanetComputing sucked... xD If you want a *real* shitshow, look at the comments in their Indegogo for the Astro Slide 5G. Absolute bananas. XD
