My house is definitely a no-shoes house because the outside is fucking gross and I don't want it in my house. But you are correct that a lot of Americans walk around inside their house with shoes and I don't understand why either.
I have indoor only slippers but that's about as far as I get with wearing shoes in the house.

Agreed. It is annoying, I have to put a fucking plaque on my door asking people to take off their shoes when they come inside.
