Science means:

Holding two contradictory thoughts at the same time, (or even more)

without judging.

You first have to get both models straight, (or more)

then identify an repeatable experiment

where the result rules out one theory !

If you can do multiple different experiments

which all result into one theory.

The theory would count as proven !
