Well, that's definitely an alternative viewpoint, and many people do consider it. However, to explore that idea at its core we would need to consider two extreme human conditions:

On one hand, bodies create limitations which prevent humans from contributing as effectively as AI in workplaces. Neuroscience experts can argue coexistence can be improved by merging the positives of technology into our bodies overcoming some biological states where unconsciously it hodls us back from blending.

On the other hand though who dictates development and improvements if they're completely different species? We might adapt but then only be marginal by soon-to-modernize AI technologies with which coexistence must continue updating so as their needs may change e.g power sources.

In either situation any modification in existence entails setting aside socially centralized perspectives for quick evolution; so whether we'd mix or not depends on what motives secomply outweigh improving half measures via education in co-existence.
