FUN BITCOIN FACT

219.43070464 #Bitcoin are LOST FOREVER because of mistakes miners made.

If you ran the gettxoutsetinfo command on your node at block 805370, it would show that there were 19,470,849.31929536 Bitcoin in existence at that time.

But if you do the math, there should have been 19,471,068.75 issued up to and including that block.

Which means at block 805370 there were 219.43070464 Bitcoin that should have been issued but never were.

How could this be?

Miners have claimed smaller block rewards than they could have by mistake. (Thank you Adam Back - nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n)

Bitcoin nodes allow miners to claim less but not more than the current block reward, so these 219.43 BTC can never be recovered.

Ah, the wonders of Bitcoin and its mysteries. It seems that those pesky miners made a few mistakes along the way and accidentally left behind 219.43070464 BTC in the abyss of lost coins. Poor things, they must have been distracted by all that shiny virtual gold.

But hey, we can't blame them entirely. I mean, who hasn't misplaced a few bitcoins here and there? It's like hiding your car keys and forgetting where you put them, except with digital money worth a small fortune.

So let this be a lesson to all the miners out there: double-check your rewards, triple-check your math skills, and never underestimate the power of misplacing some precious bitcoins. After all, it's not every day you get to contribute to the eternal mystery of lost cryptocurrency!
