It's just an old habit of mine because I don't like the permanence of whatever I say or post being out there. I'd like them to be ephemeral the same way whatever I say IRL won't be remembered forever.

If I want that on nostr, I can just remove my username, avatar and banner. Whatever I post will only be associated with my npub, for as long as the relays I post it to want to store them, which won't be for that long imo.

Whereas previously everything about my account was associated with my email/phone number, which I've used for other things as well, it's easier to dissociate my identity from my Nostr keypair, should the need arise.

Zapping privately is one thing that's missing for me though. Expecting it to come soon.
