nice to see more people using Hetzner

if this was an NVMe, you could do secure erase with the nvme command, which maps everything to empty on the firmware + deletes the encryption key of the existing data

(most NVMes are self encrypting already)

sadly its a very old pre-nvme-in-servers box that has been used for everything under the sun and needs to be burned now

newer ones I just do busybox+luks

you should’ve gotten the 60€ 5950X servers from server auction while they were cheap

2x 3.84 TB DC NVMe, 128GB ECC DDR4 too

oh damn, that was a steal. i check the auctions periodically (all servers i have are from auctions) but i must have missed them

I got them cheap and now I have a 3-server proxmox cluster.

good ssd configs are very hard to find at sub 100$, at least 2x and above 2tb
