My stupid phone is only 3 years old and it won't stay charged more than 6 hours even with casual use. It got me looking at potential upgrades and I'm so pissed... I'll *NEVER* forget what they took from us!!!

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was *PEAK* smartphone. It had:

- Faux leather removable back cover with stitching in the design

- Removable lithium battery could be replaced when nearing end-of-life

- could also remove battery for privacy if needed

- built in stylus

- headphone jack

- infrared blaster which enabled UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL APPLICATIONS!

⤷ the IR made life so easy, all your TVs in one remote control IN YOUR POCKET!

⤷ you could even use it at bars and restaurants to change channels or volume

- retailed at $299 ( $410.46 inflation-adjusted)

The modern equivalent is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra which does still have a stylus, but:

- no phone jack

- no removable/replaceable battery

- literally impossible to truly "power off" all the way

- no audio jack

- no IR blaster

- Retails at $1299

Oh but all 5 cameras on it are amazing so I GUESS THERE'S THAT.

It's so bad. Some of the Huawei phones still have IR blasters I think.

It's like what's the point of android if it's just going to have I/O like iphone.

i've never felt more cucked than when I was given IR blaster tech directly in my phone then it was GONE BY MY NEXT "UPGRADE" 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

The removal of phonejacks for new phones caught me off guard, smh

so lame

there's like, nothing left I can jam my aux cable into from my stereo system.

it's all usb-c now, or worse bluetooth

Yep. I just bought a pixel7a. I wish the screen were smaller, I wish it had headphone jack, and i really hate that its quite heavy.

I had a pixel 4 before and it was perfect.
