A company that held a charity snorkeling tour near burned out Lahaina later has since issued an apology. The incongruous sight of tourists enjoying Maui's tropical beaches while search-and-rescue teams trawl building ruins for victims has outraged some residents. ADVERTISEMENT Last week, Maui saw the deadliest US wildfire in more than a century. The death toll currently stands at 106 but is expected to rise.
