Metaphors are tradeoffs

It's not a metaphor. It does even make sense as a metaphor.

People saying it, don't intend it as a metaphor, they really believe it's true.

It's just cringy misinformation that gives bitcoiners a bad rep.

It's a variation of "bitcoin is digital energy" imo. It might make sense for a beginner. I mean you need energy in order to mine them so why would a satoshi by a small battery or something? Of course this is stupid but I can tell you I was inclined to believe it early in my journey. Now I know better. "Gold 2.0" is also dumb. "Bitcoin is" and "bitcoin is people" are the only ones I'm considering today.

For me bitcoin is beyond money. I don't remember humans discovering anything like it before so that's why is very hard to relate to it. I use it, it makes sense to me and to a bunch of others I'm transacting back and forth. Why would I complicate it?

I wouldn't sweat too much on the bad rep of others. They're external to me, so why would I consume energy to try and change them? If someone ask me is I believe bitcoin is stored energy I simply say No.
