Would you say it’s better than Umbrel?

Umbrel isn’t open sourced and I believe this is. I’ve been wanting to build a new node from scratch with all open-source software

Correct. Nodes like Umbrel, MyNodeBTC and Start9 are not open source. They just package open source software.

Raspibolt and Raspiblitz are truly FOSS

Umbrel is great for beginners. I ran one for 3 years. I wanted to do more and have more control. My Umbrel node was running a bunch of custom apps. Additionally, Umbrel has a visual management interface. This does not. Though, I do use Thunderhub. Better is a tough argument because it's highly subjective.

Running both Umbrel and Raspiblitz (which is a more automated version of Raspibolt?)

One certainly feels more like a shadowy super-coder using command line with lightning. 😂

Despite the similar naming conventions Raspbibolt and Raspiblitz are very different.

Interesting. Thoughts on blitz?

I've never ran it. Think of Blitz as a FOSS Umbrel. nostr:npub1mc20uche0cy599vpl850aschpu7wteundgsnf0msep79lu3fu5aq3r4ptv ran it for a while. He converted his Umbrella to Blitz.

I loved raspiblitz. The only reason i switched back to umbrel a second time was nearly losing a lot of sats in a freak lightning accident where i killt my own node and hadn’t backed up my channels properly. Umbrel is tard-friendlier, but raspiblitz makes a tard feel shadowy supercoderish af

Ha! Well said.

This 💯

Umbrel is plug and play whereas Raspi makes you feel nerdy 🤓

For myself raspi is great, but my mom would get Umbrel installed ... if she ever wanted to come into the light 😉😅

You’ve summed it up beautifully.

IMHO, Raspiblitz is better for quick builds for development testing. Then again Ive never had one setup for longer than a few days for that purpose. Its very capable though and configured via menu system.

Thanks for sharing your experience Derek.
