It already is, and it's useful cus you don't need to have an account with the central bank of either country to send or receive it, unlike normal currencies. Since there are so many sanctions going on rn it's one of the currencies accepted by Russia for their oil I believe.
That being said, I can't see it being used as anything more than a way to send money between segregated economies. Russia's not going to adopt it as a main currency, it'll basically be a larger scale version of what White nationalists do where you buy it, send it, and the the reciever cashes it out immediately.
