Martyr Nicander, a Roman soldier, was moved by the unwavering faith of Christians facing torture. Secretly, he and his friend Marcian began to visit and care for imprisoned Christians, burying the bodies of those martyred. Their compassion was discovered, and they were arrested. Refusing to renounce their newfound faith, they endured brutal tortures. Nicander and Marcian were ultimately beheaded for their devotion to Christ.
