nostr:npub15s3hussvmv9nyvw3w8lg0x72udazmdat7tcj5vmmjafnwcvv8tpqzz6r6y from Signal has a good essay / editorial about how we need to build an open source funded alternative to Big Tech.

What does nostr:npub15s3hussvmv9nyvw3w8lg0x72udazmdat7tcj5vmmjafnwcvv8tpqzz6r6y think of nostr, and nostr’s small tech/predominantly grant based development model?

I have no idea what she thinks of Nostr. Moxie was skeptical of all federated and decentralized tech because it was harder to make a consumer app. Interestingly he wasn’t super anti-bitcoin last time we talked about it. In fact i think a substantial portion of his net worth comes from running services only payable via bitcoin in the early days.

Was this before or after the launch of Mobilecoin?

Looks like he was trying to get closer to instant, venmo like payments with this mobilecoin.

To be fair, in 2017 LN network was not as developed as today, and today’s e-cash ecosystem was not there either.

I wonder if current Signal folks would add payments via an open monetary system.

Years before. Like 2011 to 2015.
