I finally got Zeus to at least complete transactions when it isn't crashing.

It turns out that some of my issues could be due to the fact that I don't use Google Play Services (it was never clear that I needed to).

An often overlooked aspect of good UX is warning users of the consequences of missing dependencies. Phoenix is the only example I've seen where this is done well. They tell you right away what to expect without Google Play Services installed.

I use Zeus just fine with no google play

Google Play Services? Because Google Play is a different thing.

Google Play Store rather.

No services or store

Nice. This was proposed as a possible issue. There could be some other issue or difference in use leading to the problems.

I meant to ask if you're using GrapheneOS.

Yes

Moi aussi. But I do only use mine to interact with my separate node.

I'm wondering if other applications in this space suffer the same issue. If so, a lot of frustration could be avoided with a simple check for Google Play Services and a warning or message saying the app depends on it.
