it's satire / sarcastic - nothing to do with actual children - just the fakers

and yes, rich kids virtue signalling, feigning illnesses, and the like is rampant.

reminds me of "Les Bobos" by Renaud, "... sont fiers de payer beaucoup d'impôts"

or going further back, less political but more ironic, in Hakuin's 'Song of Zazen'... where he says "like a child of a wealthy home wandering among the poor" / "like someone in the midst of water crying out in thirst", but he's talking more about people being blind to their own circumstances.
