This dude is a war asset and regardless of the victor, he won't be allowed to go back to a normal life after the fighting stops. Imagine him wearing a suit or a polo. He'll end up in prison and probably executed either as an enemy or as an expendable fall guy. There's nothing to respect when you make your identity into an animal like this.

And as soon as he came back to the states he was interrogated by the FBI. They'll probably gulag him eventually but it will be for racisms and not war crimes (don't wanna open up that pandoras box).
