if you don’t want people using your shit for free, then don’t open source it and charge for it

if you don’t want them to use it for commercial uses, then have a non-commercial license

there is nothing wrong with that and expecting everyone to pay for devs’ stuff just because is a flawed approach nostr:note15dreky2rkv9zqcmywtvegvmzyg0han9c4je3weycz9e00kg8y34qvlw28f

wdym i have to pay for things

*confused in freedom*

the software is always the means not the end, just get a paid gig

shitcoining, if necessary, because there's not a lot of VC in bitcoin and nostr

I like likes just as much as zaps.

I think you can make open source and still ask to pay. But name the price. Perhaps don't give out compiled installation packages for free. Sure there will still be geeks who don't have the money, but have time, brain and equipment to compile themselves, and avoid paying. But they will feel bad, that's fine.

I hate those donations, they make me sick. I rarely donate even if I could. Donation puts developer in a position of a begger, and me - superior. It does not feel right. Name the price and make it easy to pay. And don't provide comfort services unless paid for. If you provide comfort services such as compiling and submitting to google play and appstore for free, I consider you stupid and not gonna donate to you.
