If nostr works like I hope, it will be very hard to grow a large nostr following. People like me will add follows slowly, one at a time, as we find people engaging in other notes with stuff we like. By the time the average nostr user follows a couple hundred people the bar is very high for the next couple hundred and nobody has time to pay attention to 1000s of people each day. In a decentralized world the people who have grown accustomed to gaming/buying customer attention are going to have a very hard time.
