The military operates like any other cult. Once inside its bubble, you'll have a hard time getting to any real world truth and it will start to make a lot of sense to be willing to die for your "brother" in your new "family".

oh its designed that way, look into early psychology which was primarily about dealing with people that went nuts from war to go back

A lot has been tried on military personel indeed, because its culture motivates to not ask questions. Great for trials for pharma on humans.
