Privacy specialists I have a questionā€¦

I need a phone number for normies (clients & business contacts to contact me)

I would use graphene OS or a MySudo number but they only send SMS textā€¦

Which is unencrypted plain text fileā€¦. Not secure at all especially in my line of work as a psychedelic facilitator

Iā€™ve been switching over to iMessage simply because the messages are encrypted but now my cellular provider will be tracking Metadata on the device and building a profile on meā€¦

What should I do to optimize my privacy here?

I use Signal as much as possible but many people donā€™t respond to signal messages like they do texts so itā€™s often unreliable when messaging normiesā€¦

What type of phone system would work best here?

Black sims? Burner phone? Or just swap to new iPhone w/ new sim every three months? What can I do?

It feel your struggle. I have chosen to give up my phone number and sim card all together. For one, it helps me feel free when I am out an about. I like not being reachable often. I also feel more detached and private. I run a degoogled OS as well. Also, no service helps keep me away from my phone more. I keep a library of music on my phone instead of using streaming services. I simply insist that people use signal or nostr if they want to reach me. I have been quite surprised how open and willing people are to use signal. Most people have WhatsApp and I explain that is it a similar app bit private. They tend to understand that WhatsApp is stealing their information. I recently started a mens group in my community and it has been suorisingly easy to get them to doanload signal.

I dont know if this is helpful but this has been my approach. This is an important conversation I feel.

DMS are kind of hit or miss.

The answer to the question is yes, not often but when it feels right I do work with people in that space. It is my primary tool.

Regarding phones, I get most close friends, clients, business partners over to signal.

I am also a ghostā€¦. Nothing exists in my name on any level. No phones numbers. Cars. Houses. Etc

All routes through offshore holding companies and everything purchased under alias.

Yet I still run a business with normies clients and canā€™t figure the number situation out.

Truth isā€¦ itā€™s impossible. Only option is to swap phones, sim, accounts every 3 months to break the trail, and practice getting people over to signalā€¦.

Problem is people suck at responding on signal compared to iMessage.

I'm a ghost. Veryfew people know how to reach me. If people want what I have to offer, they have to figure it out and be committed. If they aren't wiling to try something new, they probably aren't ready for whayvj and offering.

My needs are:

- I need to be reachable via text message for business opportunities

- I change phone, sim, and phone number every 3-6 months

- I donā€™t want cellular providers to be able to track me over devices

- Using MySudo for example is decent because cell providers donā€™t get phone identifiers, yet they can keep copies of text messages in plain text files and MySudo has claimed they will overturn records to law enforcement and reveal all data in an account upon request. I donā€™t like that.

- iMessage seems better because at least texts are encryptedā€¦. But then cell provider can track location, contacts, metadata from the phone itselfā€¦. I donā€™t like that

- Exploring alternatives that might allow me to have a phone number thatā€™s truly private
