I see similar tendencies here in czechia, just much weaker.

It's mostly "we don't need to build more housing, we just need to tax it hard so it's very expensive to keep it empty or that people are forced to sell. Which would also put pressure on the real estate prices."

I'm sure then these people say "oh no! the rents got so expensive, we need to cap the prices". After the evil landlords let their houses deteriorate (rents too small to pay for upkeep), then comes expropriation.

At some point I thought I'd like to own a flat or house in spain. I guess it's not that great idea until something fundamental changes.
