Not being a friend of Nayib Bukele could be one of the most expensive mistakes world leaders could make.

For now US, EU diplomacy is acting dumb&blind:

-deity like image in ElSalvador

-hero in all Central and South American countries

-extremely intelligent and more than charismatic

-young with a long political career in front of him

-appreciated by hundreds of millions abroad

-probably president for a long time in ElSalvador, population won't accept to let him go

-already regional leader in the view of populations in neighbouring countries

-already influencing politics on a whole continent

But is he a dictator?

Even if, wouldn't be the first benevolent dictator befriended by world powers.

But #Bitcoin?

Bitcoin doesn't give a fuck. Everything is good for Bitcoin.

Is he on Nostr? 🤣

Nope. Can't wait for Twitter to ban him lol

Amen Bitcoinaz 💜

Let's not idolise this dude though. He is an authoritarian, regardless of being a benevolent dictator or not.

And that does not sit right with me.

At the same time, Salvadorians seem happy with him, so who am I to tell them they are wrong.

We clearly value different things at this point in time

Well, it's not idolizing it's just an overview.

This is happening now, not my personal opinion.

Yep, Salvadorans decide and they will have to live with their choice good or bad.

Wasn't specifically talking about you, but I see a lot of Bitcoiners putting this dude on a pedestal without looking at the whole picture.

Pretty similar to what they are doing with RJK, who is a lunatic in a lot of topics.

Can you explain what makes him a dictator compared e.g. to Biden etc.?

The El Salvador political system lacks the checks and balances that reigns in presidential power on the US.

Seems that these systems don't really make a difference, when I see all the corruption in western nations.

But they do make a massive difference. Look st what is happening with Trump. Or even the Supreme Court actually going against Biden.

Or in the case of the UK, going through PMs like they are lettuce.

It does matter. Maybe we wanted it to be more extreme, but you get there with more freedom, not less.

This hasn't helped people like Assange, Snowden etc. and I don't want to know how many less known activists just have been "erased" by certain western agencies. These governments are all rotten to the core imo. And FIAT seems to be the root of it.

You are 100% right on this.

"Bukele has used this unprecedented power to systematically weaken El Salvador’s democratic institutions, remove the attorney general, and replace Supreme Court justices with loyalists. He imposed an ongoing state of emergency that enabled him to deploy military forces to crush the gangs – the maras. Human rights organizations say this has resulted in rampant violations of due process and human rights abuses."

That's a typical propaganda article from western media, couldn't care less. Finaly doesn't matter to me, I vote #Bitcoin only so what 😅

It's not a propaganda article, it is literal fact of things he did.

But as I said before, I couldn't care less because Salvadorians seem to be happy with it.

He just doesn't align with my values.

Agree. Viva il presidente bukele!!!!
