#meshtastic packets are only 200 bytes.

#cashu token is 953 bytes

🤔 Going out of band is cringe. Manually copying and pasting is cumbersome. Using additional software has a lot of friction.

What to do...

is this something Reticulum might be helpful with?

yes, #reticulum is cool, but the coverage on lora, at least everywhere I was, was almost non-existent :(

But #meshtastic is thriving...

You can message people on the testnets

https://reticulum.network/connect.html

Check the announce stream. Some might not connect due to a recent breaking change

Yeah, and reticulum can't send group messages more than one hop. That's left to future work.

https://reticulum.network/manual/understanding.html

Reticulum might overtake Meshtastic for things connected to the Internet someday, but for standalone networks, it's hard to see how it can stand a chance.

FSK-based transmission protocol with error correction codes (ECC) to improve demodulation robustness, maybe.

How is the cashew token encoded? meshtastic packets can be binary ...

It looks like it might be able to be transformed into base64, so that'd bring it down by a little bit if it were decoded, but still too big at ~715 bytes

#noshtastic has a similar issue and it fragments the packets into multiple smaller

Chunks probably. Check out this cowboy's poc too:

Are you using the new format? Should start with cashuB

Yeah looks like this:

cashuBo2Ftdmh0dHBzOi8vbWludC5jb2lub3MuaW9hdWNzYXRhdIGiYWlIAE963yoENWxhcIOkYWEBYXN4QDc1OWU3MDdiMGY0ZmQwZTU3ZjI4YTk0YTg0YmU5NjgyOWUwYTg4YTI3N2IzYzc0NjBjZjgxNWVkOTM1NWE5NDhhY1ghAxjD-5g4XtKCEE42LeF4FTKh6bOc-J78DmUrV2FZfw5oYWSjYWVYID9LjyiguIK URwlPBdHbwRkBPrwCym9fujR_7Gm0ydORYXNYIIHvZ85BPSI8wsF4xZhC6YnviSrExSodYOJUXvCPbcqEYXJYIJLByYMm-OHzujpra0RefkhBIO2mTlletsGCCeh9hmMlpGFhBGFzeEBjMzRlZGYyZDM1Y2RhZTk2ZWIxNzExMDk0ODBhYzAzZjJhNjc3NjBjYzRlZDJhMjFhNzJjODg3MDg5MTQyYzZmYWNYIQIMN1xZHYPvM1xSn42iU9G7MnJHiP9Y7LS1Igrnfi3fhGFko2FlWCAZZGnwFOxTIpRv_bZ5yr7m-etvlm0qd-QiA_a7yOVJYWFzWCAIesFkSE1MV8wDSm3pkHWmTxlJRBs0ymmBmP42B6SxbGFyWCDEnI_ldlxTxycQ2q-8T9OV6MuK-Fy-3qXyc8Mnp0c NH6RhYRBhc3hAOWU0OTkzMjViYTllNWI5YTg0YzkwMzFiZWQyYjA2NzRjOGY0MjI3YmNiNjVlMGE4OTU5YzU2MDczNDVkNjE3OWFjWCEDAPVRJf3HZXWBNrxD2c7nuf5LlViwXpVBE1b55nQqvaxhZKNhZVggoH5W0RR6BsT9HefQ4NXNBThhz85QmtxBl9vJSWDE7ophc1gggbfhvGhsNfEU6tD6SOTi6OXcwBpzAMzOtgIqSCd07sxhclggaO4xPvFPl1_hGSAyc8mBKT8aHenE9CN92o-h5jdPZQA

but without the newlines

And congrats to whomever claims that. LOL. 🤪

They're much smaller if you keep them in base-8. 32 sats is 265 bytes for example

Meshtastic doesn't break up data into multiple packets?

Not in the app I use
