This is such a diseptive way to show this data because it makes it look like the worst inflation was in the 70s. Because the dollar was worth so much more and they hadn't manipulated the CPI to hide inflation yet. Inflation in the last 2 years has been worse than in the 70s. You have lost more buying power in the past 2 years than any other 2 year period in any of our lifetimes.
52 years ago, the American dollar was taken off the gold standard.
Since then, its purchasing power has only plummeted.
Undeniably, the most successful fiat currency the world has ever seen can now only buy 13% of what it could back then.
