I read "How to Read a Network" today by Lori Emerson. Really enjoyed some history about TCP/IP and how it was part of the Internet and OS's that scaled in "black boxes" from level to level, meaning they functioned differently and didn't properly "talk" to each other.

She posits that Protocols ought to scale in levels whereby each level "functions" the same, but achieves to tackle a different provlem/solution.

The article also positions the Internet as an unfinished demo that didn't scale properly.

Am I missing any learning here?
