How is tailscale? I’m thinking about running a server off of an old laptop and firewalling everything off with the exception being tailscale or some vpn software.
Plan on running a bunch of Bitcoin and Lightning apps

Yup, you put the client on those - then on your phone, and voila your phone can connect privately when you are on any network. No more ddns, port forwarding, reverse proxies, etc…
