Hello professor. In my opinion, this is a huge problem. We've learned over and over that our local and state infrastructure isn't up to par. From disaster assessment to recovery, it is time consuming and burdensome. From and economical standpoint, the cost of reinsurance has increased and costs policyholders more and more each year. People aren't making enough money to keep up with the rate of inflation. And the 2% wind/hail deductible are only available with LA Citizens. I see and hear from people on a daily basis about the insurance crisis. We're all at the mercy of who is willing to write and what they charge. Louisiana was the only place in the world with the 3 year rule where an insurer couldn't cancel policies if they were on their books for 3 years or more. That changed January 2025 ... but there's a huge gap since the liquidations of many carriers. Few write and the ones who do are fiercely underwritten. A 3% and 5% deductible doesn't cover the cost of a new roof.

Social protection ... coastal erosion and flood prone areas. NFIP's Risk Rating 2.0 with annual increases. Just to name a few.
