The Trade Wars Begin as Trump slaps tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China.

It'll hit them much harder than it hits us.

But there's an off-ramp if these countries can control illegals and fentanyl.

As for inflation, everything now depends on Congress slashing federal spending.

I'm curious what sort of runway either have before they are blowing up Trump's phone to negotiate. I've got to think it isn't very long considering just how big of a trade partner we were while both were sub 2% for us.

Illegals and fentanyl are only an excuse, he doesn’t really give much of a dam about it. Even if Canada and Mexico could totally stop the flow of those into the US (even the US itself has failed on stopping cocaine trafficking into their borders through air and sea), Trump will not take away the tariffs because this isn’t what he really want. It’s good for him to have that as a reason for them because he knows is practically impossible to stop trafficking completely.
