Nope. I'm quite new here and enjoying nostr much more than I "enjoyed" X the whole recent year.
..and.. btw.. no one w/out a checkmark can be heard on X.
since I'm not checkmarked anymore I almost never get any reaction from my more than 1,5k followers there.. it's boring...
not dying.
but it is a certainly a signal that the NOSTR investors cannot let go of X. 💁♂️
It is more nuanced than that. The nostr ecosystem (technology infrastructure) is amazing and evolving. My automated trading software will be using Nostr nsec to secure core user data. I will have to add other protocols in the future. Already have a working zero knowledge trust layer built alongside nostr.
As a social media experience, the energy put into posting, the lack of interaction and the types of responses is abject. Woeful even.
Yet, a key benefit is you can set up your own relay and become a provider of content. Data isn't lost.
At the same time, X has suspended multiple accounts of mine over the years, and still to this day, despite all the Elon fanboys - shadowbans and protects certain accounts. Even paid accounts does little compared to the older times of Twitter.
As a data expert, I know what nostr needs but given current projects cannot put time into it.
The other issue is the over-bitcoinisation (yes, I know you're a bitcoin maxi 😄) and technology focus on Nostr. You have to be a tech guru to get more benefit from nostr.
Yes, Nostr and Bitcoin are dying. So I posting and buying more, just in case they resurrect 😅

I think the last point of contention "no one new tonnotr can even be heard on the network" is a short term hinderens in nostr growth but a hidden strength long term. reach here is slow and gained by people following / boosting you and not accessible via automated algorithm farming. You still have to conince people that you add value by posting and that is frustrating tonpeople used tonthe algorithmic short cut

No, it’s not dying. But we need more people 100% allocating their social media to Nostr 💜
Not enough people willing to do the initial effort. But those who donend up sticking around more here than anywhere else 🔥💜
I have never felt it as an effort, always the most genuine human interaction - compared to X which is chaos for my soul.
Incompletely agree, but many of the normies i’ve tried to onboard who are not bitcoiners have felt the algo promoted that echo chamber and that curating their own feed to get what they want (when it’s so much easier on the algo legacy systems) was an effort they didnt find worth it.
Also, their friends and content are on the other platforms so exiting was an effort to them 😢

🤔It's not dying🤔:
(*) without the algorithm, it's more difficult to discover what you like or others to discover our content, but
(*) the engagement and information are more real👀✅️
(*) people on nostr are most likely smarter than on other platforms (it's not the same as character, every platforms has their own nasty bastards🔍😮💨)
(*) 🔴the threshold to post on nostr is higher than other mainstream platforms, and we are still early 🔴
=> Nostr disadvantage: adaptation
=> Nostr advantage: people who continue using Nostr, are willing to learn (widen our own views and sharpen the mind)
