So, the process over on Nostr is you find interesting people on nostr.band or similar places, and follow relevant people. You could easily end up in a closed space by that method. Not saying it's bad or anything

Look. I'm just going to say it in my words. I'm a sheltered dumb fucking loser. So bear... A community is a group of people who align and come together over a shared interest, sometimes having fun, sometimes serious informational flow, and are independent as a whole
so how is that different than a closeted community?
In a closeted community, dissenting opinions are harshly dealt with. Members are closely monitored and psychologically or physically controlled/abused
I see where you are trying to lead me. I found my mistake. You end in isolated not closeted communities on Nostr. Relatively to other social media platforms, where they have much better discovery mechanisms
