Depending on the size, cover them with a cheap bedsheet. Weigh down the edges with big rocks. Take the sheet off during the day.

If you don’t want it laying on your plants, stick some sticks in the soil to keep the sheet elevated.

Sheets are easier than plastic to wash and store for use next year.

Pro tip: make sure you don’t buy fitted sheets.
