This World Press Freedom Day we're seeing journalists face increasing political threats, physical violence + online harassment while media outlets are being bullied into government compliance. What worse is lawmakers think it's a good idea to kill section 230.

Without Section 230 social media platforms we use to share information would likely deplatform journalists that speak truth to power for fear of being sued. This means links to articles + reporting discussions could be removed from Reddit, Bluesky, etc., where many rely on getting news information.

Platforms would likely censor coverage critical of the Trump administration or state administrations, and of international news and much more.

Go to WhatisSection230.org to learn more about common misconceptions about this law and why it is important for freedom of speech, information and press online.

This isn't incompetence, it is malice. Section 230 gives regular people a voice on the internet. Take it away and only the ultra wealthy and powerful still have a say.

Without section 230 the US will have a mass shutdown of forums like the UK just had a couple of months ago. Small forums will not be able to continue and large forums will become so ban happy current reddit will look like a free speech utopia by comparison.

What good is free speech that doesn't include the internet in the modern era?
