Say I am running LND. How would I open a channel with an CLN node? Walk me through the steps pretty please because I obviously know nothing 🤷♂️
Discussion
You just open a channel, they all speak the same protocol
Since when? I will admit it’s been over 6 months since I last tried. CLN now supports option_anchors_zero_fee_htlc_tx?
Yeah, if it doesn't you can just turn that flag off on lnd
And what happens if they update the protocol to no longer allow that? Can you choose to not update it and the protocol works just fine?
Yeah, you just need the two nodes to agree. You probably do want to update though, anchor channels are more secure.
So I can run an older version of LND that came out over a year ago and open and close channels with other LND with no issues whatsoever?
No, because there was a bug. Idk why you're so hung up on old versions. We want that for bitcoin because it's a global consensus system, you don't need that for anything else.
Basically all other software you should be updating to get regular security patches etc
I’m running Bitcoin Core that was released in August 2010. Runs perfectly and validates each and every block every 10 minutes. I never have to update it. Ever. You can’t make me.
That's not possible lol there has been a hard fork since then
That was the last one
You're definitely lieing lol
