But if I fall down 7 times then I stand up 7 times, how can I stand up an eighth time if I'm already standing

before you fall the first time, your resting position will be standing. Otherwise you wont be falling.

I'm standing.

I fall, I get up. That's once.

I fall, I get up. That's twice.

Repeat five more times, I'm standing.

Unless I fall an eigth time, I can't get up an eighth time.

I get the intent. The math just bothered me. I'm so fun at parties, really. Never mind me.
