I am convinced that anger is not the right vehicle to rebel against those who wish to control you. Disgust is far more effective. Disgust provokes a visceral and physical repulsion, but it also invites mockery and derision. Those who want control use fear and moral authority as bludgeons. Mockery disarms them of both.

But disgust is still a very base emotional reaction. It still allows room for regaining control.
Standing one's ground due to well examined and understood principals allows for mockery and derision with confidence. That confidence is what allows one to be emotionally distant and harder to control.
