What’s up with photos on this protocol? They’re obscured, I’m hesitant to click on them for fear of what might pop up. Is it simply a know and trust the source first thing? #nostr

That's not a protocol thing, every client handles images differently. The client you're using probably has a setting to blur images from people you're not following, to prevent random spammers from subjecting you to whatever garbage they post lol. You can usually turn this setting off though.
