Good read. I wrote a short essay recently (which I'm planning on posting soon) that talks about some of my thoughts similar to this subject, although I didn't use the term reification as I learned it for the first time after reading this.

The subject of my essay was the concept of social identity. My argument was essentially that while it can be a useful conceptual tool, if we focus too much on our social identities we can easily lose sight of who we (and other people) really are underneath the social personas we've created. I can see some overlap with my own thinking in what you've written here.
