My country was a communist one, and after almost 35 years, I can’t say it’s a democracy.

I am so sorry to hear that. Nothing is perfect but it really hurts to see land that you love go south.
But, do you know a real democracy?
Not sure anyone does. It is an imperfect concept since it depends upon many people and what the decide to defend and concede to an overarching governing class. I know what I think of one as an ideal. So-called democracies across the globe differ, for instance, I once considered Hungarians to be governed by a democracy, and I no longer believe that to be the case.
